Group Events/Tours

Bring your group to experience Norskedalen!

Set in the midst of striking natural beauty, Norskedalen ‘the Norwegian Valley' offers a personalized tour experience tailored to the interests and needs of each group, whatever the size.

Norskedalen is open year round and we offer a wide variety of options including guided tours of the buildings and/or trails, hands-on demonstrations of heritage arts and crafts, cultural entertainment, and catered meals/dessert options. The only complaint you might hear from your group is that they wished they had more time to spend here!

Basic pre-reserved group price is $5.50 per person and includes admission and any of the following:

• Access to the grounds and arboretum
• Orientation video (10 minutes)
• Tour of the Bekkum homestead or trails
• Visitors' Center heritage and nature displays
• Skumsrud Heritage Farm visit (June-August)

Additional Tour Options

• Add coffee and pie or Norwegian desserts served to your group for just $3.50 per person
• Add a delicious sit-down meal (meatball or Smorbrod - which are Norwegian open faced sandwiches) complete with beverages and Norwegian pastry dessert for $19 per person
• Add musical entertainment for $6 per person
• Add a live, hands-on demonstration experience with cost based on demonstration selected.

Sample Tour Packages

Morning or afternoon coffee and dessert tours:

Your group can enjoy a guided tour of the homestead and/or a guided stroll along one of our trails, view the displays at the Thrune Visitors' Center, visit the gift shop and relax with a morning or afternoon coffee break complete with either pie or Norwegian pastries for $8.00 per person

Demonstration Tours:

Depending on your group's time and interests, we can put together a live demonstration by one of the area's heritage artisans where you can learn about wood carving, rosemaling, spinning, flatbread baking, etc. and perhaps even give it a try (or a taste). The demonstration tour adds $1-3 dollars per person depending on the artisan, group size, and availability.

Tours with Meals:

Your group can enjoy a delicious locally catered meal with the option of eating indoors in our Heritage Room or enjoying the outdoor scenery in our comfortable shelter. The meal is served buffet style.

Tours with Musical Entertainment:

The Norskedalen Trio provides a lighthearted brand of Scandinavian music complete with the occasional Ole and Lena joke, striking just the right note for your group. Hardanger fiddle, electric piano and accordian join together to bring you traditional Norwegian songs plus a variety of other folk favorites that will have your group smiling, tapping their toes, and even singing along. The Trio consists of Tip and Eleanor Bagstad and Pearl Whistler, all local musicians who are in demand around the region.
