Heritage Programs

Heritage programming is offered in all sorts of ways at Norskedalen.

Many of our events give you the opportunity to learn about our local, state, and national heritage. At Midsummer Fest and Old-Fashioned Christmas, observe and participate in Norwegian American customs. Twilight Tour is an ever-changing event where each year we delve into the history of multiple subjects from literature to architecture to conservation. See our property transform into a battlefield at Civil War Experience as you learn about our nation’s past.

Looking to expand your knowledge about Norwegian heritage? Our Sometimes on a Sunday programming offers a wide variety of topics. In addition, Norskedalen offers heritage classes in-person and online on skills that range from Norwegian baking to wood carving to needlework. Tune in to our social media for upcoming Sometimes on a Sunday programming and in-person heritage classes. For a complete listing of our online heritage class offerings, click here.

Norskedalen also provides elementary heritage education through our Letters from Anne program. This program is offered both as a field trip to our location and as a curriculum package. While on a field trip to Norskedalen, students will have the opportunity to experience the historic homestead while completing an assortment of hands-on activities. Contact us for more information! Our Letters from Anne curriculum package can be used on its own in the classroom and in conjunction with our field trip options.
