Thanks to our staff, both paid and volunteer, Norskedalen is able to offer an incredible range of programming, guided tours, demonstrations, events and classes which further our mission of preservation, interpretation and education in the areas of the natural environment and cultural heritage of this region.  This staff of employees and volunteers also works year-round to keep the buildings, artifacts, displays and grounds well maintained and beautiful.


Current Employment Opportunities:

Nature Programs Coordinator

An hourly full-time (40 hours per week), year round position with primary responsibility for creating, organizing and facilitating Nature Collections, Nature Educational Programs and Nature Events.  Reports to Executive Director.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Naturalist Work (30%): Work with appropriate committees to create, organize, display, and maintain nature activities and collections appropriate for Norskedalen’s membership, education programs, rotating displays and heritage events.
  • Education Programs (30%): Develop educational programs utilizing the vast array of opportunities and resources available at Norskedalen. Programs should clearly correspond with Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction Standards and Guidelines.  Develop marketing materials that will attract the attention of educators, encouraging them to bring their students to Norskedalen.
  • Outreach (40%): Understanding that revenue gained through events and donations fund collections and educational programming:
    • Provide leadership to events focusing on nature, the environment, and agriculture of the area such as Music in the Valley, Threshing Bee, Forestry Management Deer Hunt, Ghoulees in the Coulees, and others.
    • Work with Tour Groups to facilitate their reservations.
    • Actively promote resources available at Norskedalen through assigned activities such as radio interviews, newspaper columns, Facebook postings.
