Norskedalen has miles of trails for any skill level. It’s a good idea to ask for any trail updates or available trail brochures when stopping in the Thrune Visitors’ Center. Norskedalen is constantly working to improve and add to the current trail system.
Troll Trail: This half mile trail is a fun and easy trail for kids of all ages. Be sure to pick up the Troll Trail Scavenger Hunt brochure in the Thrune Visitors’ Center!
Pine Loop Trail: This varied one and a half mile loop will take you through a majestic pine forest, past a gurgling spring, and through a mature hardwood forest. It’s sure to be a favorite for hikers of all abilities.
Ophus Farm Trail: If you stick to left turns, your hike exploring the north end of the property will be a little over a mile and you won’t see major changes in elevation. You will see amazing habitat and wildlife though!
We are constantly working to bring you more trails with a wider variety of terrain. We are hoping to have these trails ready for you in 2022!
Strywald Trail: About a mile in length, this is our most challenging and rugged trail. Only experienced hikers should try this one.
Prairie Meadow Trail: This trail starts near the ponds in the arboretum and takes you past the prairie and across Poplar Creek.
Forest Ridge Trail: A loop off the northern part of the Ophus Farm Trail, Forest Ridge Trail takes you up a steep incline, through heavier wooded areas, and then down switchback trails to reconnect with the Ophus Farm Trail.
**Please be aware that the trails are not maintained in the winter months, but we invite you to strap on a pair of snowshoes or boots and blaze a trail!
